Whenever you have a particularly vivid dream, it’s tempting to speculate if that dream has any meaning. After all, scientists still aren’t entirely sure why we dream! Diverse theories explain dreaming, from it being a form of memory processing, a way the mind works through problems, or simply your brain responding to different electrical impulses and chemical changes during REM sleep. At Overland Park Family Dental, we’re certainly not experts when it comes to interpreting dreams, but we get frequent questions from patients whether a dream they’ve had about their teeth means anything about their oral health. Today, we want to share what we think some of these dental-themed dreams might mean!
Teeth Falling Out
Most of the time, a dream like this is not any indicator of the state of your oral health, but instead a sign that you’re worried about something in real life. For example, you may be worried about embarrassing yourself in a certain situation by saying the wrong thing, or you have a big decision coming up and are stressing about what to do.
Biting
If you dream about biting, this may be a sign that an unresolved issue is eating away at you. Whether it’s a nagging problem you haven’t been able to solve or a lingering grudge toward another person, dreams about biting may be a sign that something’s gotten under your skin.
Rotten Teeth
Believe it or not, dreaming about rotten teeth may actually be a positive thing! In real life, tooth decay should be immediately addressed, but in dreamland, rotten teeth may mean that you’re on your way to resolving unfinished business. Congratulations!
